چکیده

Line segment detection in images is already a well-investigated topic, although it has received considerably less attention in 3D point clouds. Benefiting from current LiDAR devices, large-scale point clouds are becoming increasingly common. Most human-made objects have flat surfaces. Line segments that occur where pairs of planes intersect give important information regarding the geometric content of point clouds, which is especially useful for automatic building reconstruction and segmentation. This paper proposes a novel method that is capable of accurately extracting plane intersection line segments from large-scale raw scan points. The 3D line-support region, namely, a point set near a straight linear structure, is extracted simultaneously. The 3D line-support region is fitted by our Line-Segment-Half-Planes (LSHP) structure, which provides a geometric constraint for a line segment, making the line segment more reliable and accurate. We demonstrate our method on the point clouds of large-scale, complex, real-world scenes acquired by LiDAR devices. We also demonstrate the application of 3D line-support regions and their LSHP structures on urban scene abstraction. 2015 International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Inc. (ISPRS). Curb-based Street Floor Extraction from Mobile Terrestrial Lidar Point Cloud

Mobile terrestrial laser scanners (MTLS) produce huge 3D point clouds describing the terrestrial surface, from which objects like different street furniture can be generated. Extraction and modelling of the street curb and the street floor from MTLS point clouds is important for many applications such as right-of-way asset inventory, road maintenance and city planning. The proposed pipeline for...

Incremental 3D Line Segments Extraction from Semi-dense SLAM

Despite much interest in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), there is a lack of efficient methods for representing and processing their large scale point clouds. In this paper, we propose to simplify the point clouds generated by the semi-dense SLAM using three-dimensional (3D) line segments. Specifically, we present a novel incremental approach for 3D line segments extraction. This a...

Feature Extraction for Illustrating 3D Stone Tools from Unorganized Point Clouds

This paper presents a method for extracting features for illustrating stone tools. Features are detected from unorganized point clouds obtained by a 3D laser scanner. The curvature of each point in the point clouds is estimated by local surface fitting algorithm and used for detecting potential feature points. Feature lines are extracted by directionally growing algorithm. The main idea of our ...

Segmentation-based Multi-scale Edge Extraction to Measure the Persistence of Features in Unorganized Point Clouds

Edge extraction has attracted a lot of attention in computer vision. The accuracy of extracting edges in point clouds can be a significant asset for a variety of engineering scenarios. To address these issues, we propose a segmentation-based multi-scale edge extraction technique. In this approach, different regions of a point cloud are segmented by a global analysis according to the geodesic di...
